Sun Gets 15 OEM Partners Selling Solaris x86

Sun is pushing Solaris on Opteron and Xeon systems through 15 new OEM partners for a total of 20 x86 resellers.

Sun boasts that the "groundswell of support from 20 OEMs is proof of momentum behind Solaris x86," but all of the firms are low-profile outfits.

The OEMs represent a range of products including servers, workstations, supercomputers, telecom equipment, VPNs and notebooks and include ASA Computers, Flight System Consulting, NatureTech, PSSC Labs, Rave Computer Association and Tokyo Forex Financial.

Sun claims expanding the independent hardware vendor ecosystem for Solaris x86 will have a "snowball effect" on ISV support.
