How Did Oracle Get into this SCO Business?

How Did Oracle Get into this SCO Business?

IBM has subpoenaed Oracle, whose name has yet to come up in the controversy, to appear in its defense at the SCO trial, if it should come to that. IBM has put a bid in for summary judgment.

What Oracle has to add to the conversation remains to be seen. It's supposed to bring along any documents relating to the confidentiality of Unix source and speak to its relationship with SCO and SCO investor, the Canopy Group.

Odd, neither Microsoft nor Sun, both of which contributed to SCO's war chest, or BayStar Capital Management, the disgruntled VC that wants its $20 million back and has been told by SCO to take a long walk off a short pier, didn't make the first subpoena cut.

Canopy, which is supposed to produce details of SCO's settlement of its antitrust action against Microsoft; Novell, which once owned Unix and contests SCO's claims of IP rights; Computer Associates, which supposedly took a Linux license from SCO; Center 7, whose differences with CA led to the so-called license, SCO investors Morgan Keegan and Royce & Associates; SCO consultant S2 Strategic Consulting, which had something to do with the $50 million Baystar-Royal Bank of Canada investment in SCO; and, which did take a Linux license, have been subpoenaed.

I USED to have accounts at the Royal Bank of Canada
they pissed me off so I emptied my accounts and walked...
Neat how 15 years later they still find ways to piss me off...

Royal Bank of Canada investing in SCO? Interesting considering that they are a Big Blue shop. I would think that they could invest their money more wisely.

just a "normal" linux afficiando; no tech job; no credential. Am wondering what your presumptions are concerning the target reader of your article are. It seems that this article the subject of which I am interested is presuming that every target reader is intimately aware of the background of this dispute and is in no need of context information.
