Ex-Apple Retail Chief Flubs at Penney’s

Ron Johnson was fired Monday after the market closed and replaced by former Penney’s CEO Myron Ullman

Told ya so. Told ya so. Told ya Ron Johnson, who designed Apple's retail stores, wouldn't make it as CEO of JC Penney's.

Coming up with clever retail store designs and finding chi-chi locations is a lot different than running a 111-year-old department store chain as JC Penney's discovered after it poached Johnson from Apple. But we could have told it that.

He was fired Monday after the market closed and replaced by former Penney's CEO Myron Ullman.

Johnson's tenure at Penney's produced a disastrous 25% drop in sales and created concerns that it might run out of cash after it lost $4.3 billion in sales last year.

Johnson, who went from Target to Apple, was recruited in June of 2011.

He was replaced at Apple last year by Dixon's CEO Ron Browett who lasted all of six months and has yet to be replaced.
